On February 8th was held the official opening ceremony of HeidelbergCement Georgia full modern Kaspi Cement plant and new clinker dry production line.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia Mr. Mamuka Bakhtadze, the Ambassador of Germany in Georgia H.E. Mr. Hubert Knirsch, CEO of HeidelbergCement Group Dr. Bernd Scheifele, Heidelbergcement Group Director of Northern and Eastern Europe-Central Asia and Member of the Managing Board - Dr. Albert Scheuer, the General Director of Heidelbergcement Georgia Mr. Michael Hampel,  Chief Executive Officer of Georgian CO-Investment Fund Mr. George Bachiashvili, Partner at Hunnewell Partners Georgia Mr. Irakli Rukhadze.

Preparatory works for the Kaspi Modernization Project were initiated in September 2016. The total investment of the Kaspi Plant Technological Modernization is USD 100 Million. The project has several-fold advantages: efficient production requiring less energy per ton of clinker; increased capacity of 3,000 tons per day that outweighs the entire production currently carried out in all kilns in Kaspi; enhanced clinker quality control; and centralized production system. Kaspi Modernization Project enabling HeidelbergCement Georgia to comply with the highest requirements of environmental protection regulations of the EU with improved production costs and increased performance. Within the framework of the project, a high standard filtration system and special equipment for permanent monitoring of emissions have been installed, which enables to control the number of dust and emissions of the plant online. Project is supported by Co-Investment Fund (“GCF”) and Hunnewell Partners.
