The Lentekhi hydropower plant is a run-of-the-river project on the Tskhenistskali river in northern Georgia, with a designed and installed capacity of 192 MW. This greenfield project has an expected annual energy generation of 668 GWh, and its expected annual output will comprise 6% of Georgia’s total electricity consumption.
The total investment for the project is US$385M (including the cost of financing) and the project has been planned on a build, own and operate (BOO) structure with power generation planned to commence in 2027.
GCF is expected to be a minority shareholder of this project, while a majority stake is expected to be owned by Korean Hydro & Nuclear Power, the largest power company in Korea.
